Lotus Bakeries started business in China in 2004 via TED Shanghai Food. In the period 2004-2009 the company created a stable growth of Lotus Original Caramelized Biscuits mainly in high-end premium supermarkets. In 2009 Lotus Bakeries opened their Representative Office in Shanghai to support the development of the Lotus brand and the business. In March 2010 the business continued via Goodwell China Marketing Services. During the Shanghai 2010 World Expo Lotus Bakeries sampled over 6 million Original Caramelised biscuits for free in the six months at the entrance of the EU-Belgium pavilion. This was one of the major breakthroughs in China as 95% of the visitors were Chinese from all over the country.
In 2014 Lotus Bakeries established their office located in Shanghai and took over the business from Goodwell China Marketing Services. Lotus Bakeries China is responsible for the import, warehousing, distribution, sales and marketing in China. In the last couple of years the company has established sustainable growth in China.
